Pug, E. and I all played Worm Armageddon after buying it last night. I personally played the thing until 02:00 this morning, and ended up with a preference for the Armageddon rule set. It was a great time, and I believe it directly contributed to an unusually lucid dream I had which involved elements of System Shock 2 and Doom 3, and had Worms music playing in the background.
It was all very odd, involving some kind of circus which traveled with a large military security presence, intelligent psionic monkeys and dolphins, the annelids from System Shock 2, and a large enclosed area of automated machinery. Basically, I was on the train for some reason with the circus, it went through an underground tunnel, and it derailed at an unusually wide area of the tunnel. The train fell into the water in the bottom of the pipe, and the monkeys and dolphins saw this coming with their psychic abilities. I helped a couple of them get out of the wreck with another dude, then they left. I suppose that’s because they somehow knew that the annelid worms were in the water we were dumped in. These worms promptly infected most of the circus, security and all, but this only became clear after we got out of the water into an area of maintenance machinery manned by 3-4 guys. Everything after that is about how one dude from the train, the maintenance guys, and I tried to get away stealthily from this mess. The amusing part was that one of the maintenance guys somehow hacked into part of the annelids’ collective consciousness, because the annelids were using the local computer to help issue orders to the enslaved. To escape, he planted the thought in all their minds to laugh hysterically at anything funny. Then we went through several rooms of these people making funny faces at them, which caused them to stop us from leaving and made them laugh like crazy instead.
Then of course, the opposition caught on to this, and the dream ended shortly after one of the zombified security dudes stop laughing at us and tried to stop us with his weapon. I forget what I did to bump him off, but seeing as Doom 3 and System Shock 2 were the obvious sources of this dream, I probably blasted him.
And Worms Armageddon music played in the background the whole time! How about that? Seeing how I play the FPS genera so much, maybe it’s good I don’t remember more of these things. ^-^
