Week 8 and after

Posted on Tuesday 1 August 2006

23072006T1953:  Times have been quite busy.  I had an Endurance crew last week, and we ended up going about 60 miles total over the mountainous terrain out here.  24 came from doing the Ranch Road, which I did despite some forebodings, because my crew was doing it, and I believed in doing everything my crew did.  What a dope I was!  I didn’t have to do it, and shouldn’t have, and knew this, but I went anyway.  I successfully completed the 24 miles in about 6 hours, 25 minutes, from 1915 to about 0140.  It’d have been a nice 6 hours except for the last 4 miles or so when something went screwy with my right hamstring and it started hurting like crazy, reducing me to a 2 or 3 mile per hour hobble rather than the nice 4 MPH clip I’d been making.  I got my cute bandanna, though, the one I’d mocked so much earlier.  All I can say about me doing the ranch road hike is that although I was stupid enough to do it, I was at least tough enough to finish.  I’m never going on that thing on foot again, what a doofus I am.  But at least I know what’s it’s like now.
31072006T0004:  I am passing my spare time in personal reflection, and have not bothered posting in a bit on account of being tired.  There is automotive maintenance to be done as well.  I expect to head out on Tuesday.  I’m pretty sure I’ll be back next year, and when I do, it’ll be with a router with a built-in working modem, hard wire network cable sockets, and wifi capability with at least WEP built in, preferably 802.11g.  Time marches on.
