I was debating between that as a title or this: “Objective: Escape!” I’ve got the rest of the week off until Monday; quite a head start at both of those for this week! I’m off until Monday. I’m still not sure what I’m going to do, but I know I’ll really enjoy it.
I saw Margaret Strawser-Booth a couple nights as well her boyfriend, Derek. We had Chinese food at a good place I knew, and it went pretty well. I hadn’t figured she’d think of me as hip enough to hang out with, being in college and all, but she did. I was graciously surprised. Thanks for showing up and a good time, Margaret!

Today I’ll plan the rest of the time off, as well as finish up work on Sky, my laptop. When I’m done with Sky, it will be dual boot with Win XP and Backtrack Linux, a newer, more specialized distro of Linux designed for pen testing. Basically, the Windows side will be the idiot proof compatibility half and dialup capable side using the built-in Winmodem, with Automatic Updates shut off and my own custom performance tweaks on it. On the other side, I’ll have the Backtrack Linux setup, which is basically Hell’s Own wardriving rig. Backtrack is a live-CD distro with an installation option, besides being a security distro. The awesome thing: it supports automatic configuration for a number of wireless programs, like Kismet, which are tough to get configured, all through scripts. It’s great! It also has all the biggest Linux wireless drivers out there, including both the old WLAN-NG as well as the newer Orinoco driver patched for monitoring. This is the best thing in the WORLD for my wildly overpowered wireless Prism card. I could even swap out the Prism for the Cisco card, rerun the script, and get things working again with Kismet and such! Beautiful. And of course it has everything to handle WEP automatically; I just need to start it up. I might figure out packet injection at some point even, who knows? I’ve got to get Portage onto the thing.
I think I’m getting out of Florida for sure in a few months. Texas and Arizona are the two alternatives to Florida for now.
What the heck can I get into besides surveying for a while until I finish R & D in speculation? Hmm…
